Welcome to Team 3D! My name is Ms. Cash, and I am excited to have your child in my third grade class this year! Third grade is an important transition year from lower elementary to upper elementary, and the demands are great. You can help your child by talking with them each day about what they are learning about at school.
Each week a homework packet will be assigned on Monday. It will be collected on Friday. Please provide a place to work through the homework packet each afternoon. This should include a quiet place to sit, with materials and supplies that might be needed to complete assignments. Be sure to encourage your student to read for at least fifteen minutes each and every day. At the same time, you should continue to read aloud to your student.
Meaningful conversations about books and the world around you will enhance your child's learning by linking their background knowledge (what they already know) with what they are learning about at school. This practice will help their retention of new concepts in all areas and enrich their writing.
